The Hazelwood provides high quality accommodation in a city centre location only 400 yards from York Minster. Dating from 1862 the building comprises two restored Victorian town houses which retain many original features.T Situated in a quiet residential street it offers easy access on foot to all the shops restaurants and attractions within the city walls.T There are several room categories to suit your preference with two bedrooms on the ground floor. We like to think that all our rooms are quiet. Free parking. Wireless broadband available throughout the premises. We offer accommodation only. There is a wide choice of artisan cafes and bakeries within easy walking distance which offer an eclectic choice of breakfast options such as breakfast rolls omelettes pastries pancakes waffles smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and not least eggs benedict. Many offer a discount for Hazelwood guests. For traditionalists Wacker s in Gillygate just 100 yards walk from us serves a full fried English breakfast. We have their menus available at reception. There are many other exciting menus available slightly further afield within the city walls. IMPORTANT INFORMATION/FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS CHECK IN It is most helpful if you can let us know your approximate arrival time and means of travel. The latest time for arrival is 7:00 p.m. except by arrangement. You may check in from 11.00am onwards. If your room is not ready you are welcome to park and/or store your luggage with us. Your room will be ready no later than 4.00pm. CHILDREN We are unable to accommodate babies or children under the age of 8 and we cannot put extra beds in rooms so that the maximum occupancy in each room including children over 8 is 2 people. GROUPS in the case of reservations for groups of more than six persons whether made in one or more bookings different prices and terms and conditions apply.

DIRECTIONS TO THE HAZELWOOD TRAVELLING BY RAIL We are a pleasant ten minutes walk from the railway station across Lendal Bridge and past the Minster. Alternatively you can take a taxi from the station forecourt which is recommended. TRAVELLING BY ROAD Post Code YO31 7EH From the South Travelling north on either the A1 or M1 approach York on the A64 from the south west. DO NOT take the M62 and approach York on the A19 from the south. The first sign for York is York North. Take this exit and follow these signs along the A1237 outer ring road for about 2 miles until the junction with the A19 which is at the fourth roundabout. Turn right (south) and approach the city centre on the A19. Continue on this road until you see the old city gate (Bootham Bar). Turn left at the traffic lights JUST BEFORE THE GATE and take the first street on the left after about 150 yards. This is Portland Street and The Hazelwood is 50 yards along on the right. From the North Travelling south on the A1 take the A59 towards York. As you approach York you will come to a roundabout which is at the junction with the A1237 outer ring road. Turn left and follow this road for about a mile until the junction with the A19 which is at the second roundabout. Turn right (south) and approach the city centre on the A19. Continue on this road until you see the old city gate (Bootham Bar). Turn left at the traffic lights JUST BEFORE THE GATE and take the first street on the left after about 150 yards. This is Portland Street and The Hazelwood is 50 yards along on the right. If you are travelling on the A1 from Edinburgh or anywhere north of Newcastle it is best to take the A19 at this point. From the West Travelling on the M62 turn north at the junction with the M1 and follow the directions from the South. Travelling on the A59 from Harrogate follow the directions from the North. From the East Travelling from Hull follow York signs into the city centre until you see the old city gate (Walmgate Bar). Turn right at the traffic lights JUST BEFORE THE GATE and follow the inner ring road for about a mile passing through four sets of traffic lights. At the fifth set you must turn sharp left and take the first street on the right after 50 yards. This is Portland Street and The Hazelwood is 50 yards along on the right.
