Description

On the picturesque village green of Ilmington set in the crook of the Cotswold Hills lies The Howard Arms a stunning 400-year-old Cotswold stone inn at the centre of village life. The flagstoned bar and open-plan dining room create a civilised look without sacrificing period charm and it is all imbued with an informal atmosphere and a log fire that burns for most of the year. Eight stylish rooms sit above and behind the inn and with not a street-light nor traffic within miles a peaceful nights sleep is guaranteed. We offer a healthy selection of real ales and wine drinkers can choose from a list of over thirty served by the glass. We take pride in sourcing excellent ingredients locally for the kitchen and many of our suppliers are named on our menu. The Howard Arms is the start and finish to a number of idyllic local walks and is ideal for exploring Hidcote and Kiftsgate gardens. There is a lovely garden to enjoy in the summer.

Driving from London or The North follow the M40 to junction 15 A46 to Stratford-upon-Avon A3400 towards Shipston on Stour and Oxford or miles turn right (signposted Wimpstone Ilmington). From Oxford follow A44 to Chipping Norton A3400 to Shipston on Stour turning left past Sheldon s Wine Merchants and then take the second right into Darlingscott to Ilmington. Rail services are frequent between Paddington and the nearest main line station at Moreton-in-Marsh.
