71 Nyhavn Hotel was established in an old warehouse, which is now preserved, in 1971. The warehouse was originally used for storage of spices and other articles of commerce from the Far East. As lorries and planes began to take over a great deal of the overseas trade, the importance of the warehouse was somewhat diminished. Consequently it was turned into a storage room for furniture. Everywhere at the hotel you can still see the original rafters made of Pomeranian pine, making you sense an atmosphere of bygone days. The hotel has gone through great redecoration and renovations in 1997 and 2001, and today with memories of a past history as the old Suhr-warehouse and the Global-warehouse, it appears as a first class hotel with a charming and rustic atmosphere.
